First documentary short film by Animal Instinct depicts historic conservation program.

Newport Aquarium made history with its first, extremely rare Shark Ray. She’s a crowd favorite named “Sweet Pea” and was one of the first Shark Rays on display in this hemisphere.

They brought in a second Shark Ray – a male – to mate with Sweet Pea and create the world’s first Shark Ray Breeding Program.

Realizing the public might want to know that one of their institutions was taking a leadership role in the conservation of this rare and threatened species, we wrote and produced an eight-minute documentary in association with the local NBC affiliate. The documentary ran on the NBC affiliates station and plays in the theater so every visitor can learn about this pioneering program that’s taking place at their Aquarium.
